Clear definitions to understand guaguas, terminals, stops, taxis and transfers in the country.

Guagua

In the Dominican Republic, a guagua is a bus or minibus used for public transport. It can be urban or intercity; Guagualine focuses on booking intercity guagua seats.

Bus stop

A guagua stop is the point where passengers board. In the Dominican Republic it may be a formal terminal, office, street corner or departure point indicated by the carrier.

Bus terminal

A guagua terminal is a station or office used by a transport company. In the Dominican Republic each company can have its own terminal in the same city.

Assisted booking

Assisted booking means Guagualine checks availability, manages the ticket or booking number with the carrier and sends a private confirmation. It does not mean Guagualine operates the vehicle.

Bus departure point

The bus departure point is the exact place where the customer must be before boarding. It can be a terminal, plaza, office or point indicated by the carrier.

Uber

Uber is a mobility app that can help with urban rides where it operates. In the Dominican Republic availability depends on city, time, exact point, local rules and driver assignment.

Cabify

Cabify is a known mobility app in Spain and Latin America, but current public information does not show it as the main active option in the Dominican Republic.

Taxi

Taxi remains practical for short rides, hotels, airports and places where a mobility app is not available.

Private transfer

A private transfer is a door-to-door vehicle service. It usually costs much more than guagua, but can make sense for groups, special luggage or difficult times.
